Biomass pyrolysis refers to the process of biomass thermochemical conversion under anaerobic state (isolated with air). During this process, it will produce biochar, tar, pyroligneous and syngas. By controlling the pyrolysis reaction conditions (mainly reaction temperature, dwell time and so on), we can get different kinds of pyrolysis products: gas, solid and liquid.

Biomass Pyrolysis Laboratory Apparatus is developed to help the clients, who will set up commercial biomass pyrolysis projects, to collect the relevant experimental data for further analysis and research, then improve commercial operation.

As the sole supplier of technology & equipment for 5 tons/hour torrefied biomass pellets project invested by Sweden investors, SIMEC delivered biomass pyrolysis laboratory apparatus and laboratory chopper/hammer mill/pelletizer to project site in January 2019.

The purpose is to conduct torrefaction experiments and make samples of torrefied biomass pellets. The samples will be sent to customers in Europe for co-firing test. This is a very important step before setting up large scale torrefied pellet project.

Realizable Experiments includes:

v Torrefaction and other pyrolysis process under different reaction temperature and material flow rate.

v Collectable experimental samples for further analysis:

torrefied solid material.

syn-gas before purification.

syn-gas after purification.

liquid byproduct, such as tar, pyroligneous acid.

v Instant syn-gas volume measurement.

v Experimental study on combustion of syn-gas before and after purification.

v Based on the samples, data, analysis, by scientific calculation, almost all the experimental purposes could be realized to meet the requirements of scientific research work.

SIMEC will build 25 sets of 5 t/h torrefied biomass pellet plants in the following years for the same Europe energy company.

All the cargos were loaded into container at 3rd Jan. 2019.
